As some of you are already aware from the timetable, we are holding a very quick AGM this Wednesday at 7.00pm. It is mainly to give you an overview of how the 78th Group is doing, future plans and the current committee members. If you would like to join our committee then you would be most welcome, in whatever capacity you feel you could make a positive contribution to continue making this a thriving group.
We will then quickly move on to Group camp; an opportunity to update you on activities and plans etc, and to answer questions. Please remember to bring completed health forms.
If your Beaver or Cub is not going to camp, then you can of course leave after the AGM.

We are all looking forward to our annual group camp, and this years edition is coming soon. Only a couple more weeks before we will decent on Dean Field Studies Centre.
This year it looks like we will have the biggest attendance so far for a group camp, over 50 Scouts and staff will be joining in. It is going to be great.
A camp meeting will be held on Wednesday 20th September (details will follow soon), all parents/guardians are welcome to join to get the latest information about our group camp.
For parents/guardians that not (yet) have got the all important forms to fill out, they can be downloaded below. Please make sure that the health form is returned to us latest Wednesday 20th September.

The Scouts have had a fabulous time at Glenny Wood this weekend!
There were 16 Scouts at this years Scout Camp, and absolute record number. We are very pleased with the turnout and we have enjoyed every second of this weekend.
Even though all the activities took place on and around the camp site, we have managed to do some incredible things. Not only getting soapily messy on the slide we made, smoked out during creating the fires for breakfast, enjoyed wood working, playing games, and lots more.
Thanks to everyone participating, we have had a blast!

Last Wednesday the District Cubs Cooking Competition was held and the 78th had 2 teams competing.
After a couple of weeks of practicing the night to perform was finally there, and the results were very tasty.
And our teams did very well, they managed to keep the trophy for another year, as they came in 1st and 2nd place. The margin between the two teams was very small, only a couple of points difference.
Well done and congratulations!

As we are getting ready for the Easter break we would like to wish you all a very happy Easter. Make sure that if you go Easter Egg Hunting that you will have fun, and don’t eat all of the eggs you find in one go.
If you are stuck for ideas on what to do this Easter then have a look at this: http://scouts.org.uk/news/2017/03/30-things-to-do-april/

It’s the year of the Rooster / Chicken. The Rooster is the tenth in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac sign. The Years of the Rooster include 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, and the next one is in 2029.
The Rooster is almost the epitome of fidelity and punctuality. For ancestors who had no alarm clocks, the crowing was significant, as it could awaken people to get up and start to work. In Chinese culture, another symbolic meaning of chicken carries is exorcising evil spirits.
