Ten Tors

Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Network in school years 9 to 13 can take part in the Ten Tors challenge.

Ten Tors is organised by the army and is a two day challenge which takes place on Dartmoor. Completion of the event shows that you have determination, commitment, problem solving skills and the ability to work in a team (all valued by employers). More importantly, you will have a fantastic time and make loads of new friends. Kingswood District teams have an excellent record of completing this event. We are looking for people like you to be in those teams.

Kit for training walks (must be suitable for January weather).

Sturdy walking/hiking boots, comfortable trousers (no jeans or leggings), waterproof jacket and waterproof overtrousers, hat, gloves, gaiters (optional, but highly recommended), rucksack, food/snacks, water/drinks, survival bag (recommended initially, but is essential later in training). Weight can be increased using old clothes, blanket etc.

Training

Training starts on January 7th 2024, meeting at Rodway Common opposite Mangotsfield School at 8.30 am.
