About 78th

The 78th Kingswood Scout Group is based at the Badminton Road Methodist Church in Downend. Founded in March 1959.

It provides adventure and opportunities for over 60 young people on a weekly basis. Our regular meetings take place on Wednesday evenings.

Our Youth Sections

Boys and Girls can join the group at the age of 6 in our Beaver colony, which meets on Wednesday evenings from 18.00 till 19.15.
Beavers enjoy a lot of fun and games, as well as experiencing some outdoor activities, building the skills they need within their Scouting career but also in everyday life.

At the age of 8 young people move up into Cubs. Our Cub pack meets on Wednesday evenings from 18.00 till 19.30.

Cubs continue to work on their Scouting skills through fun and play.

At the age of 10½ young people move into the last section of the 78th, the Scout troop, which meets on Wednesday evenings from 19.15 till 21.15.

Scouts use the skills that they have learned in the earlier sections, putting them into action regularly.

This section runs until Scouts reach the age of 14, after which they can move up to Explorers.
