Dear Parents,

We now have the final details for our Uniform Groups Family service on Tuesday 12th February.  The service will be themed around Anniversaries as the Church and Scouts will be commemorating their Diamond Anniversary. Each group will be making diamond shapes that will be hung as bunting around the church. The children will be encouraged to read their inscriptions.

The service will commence at 6.15pm and finish approximately at 7.00pm; we ask that you bring your child for 6.00pm as normal so we can prepare them for the parade into church. We can then select the Standard party for each section – full uniform please. Parents, friends and family are very welcome to stay and join in.

The Brownie section will be leading the service with the minister: as it is their normal meeting night. There will be an investiture ceremony for all new members, during the service.

At the end of the service, there will be an opportunity to have refreshments themed as a Birthday Party, so we are asking if you could kindly bring a small cake or cakes that we can share. The 78th are helping to run this, so would welcome volunteers with open arms!

Many thanks

78th Kingswood Scout Group

Ps does anyone still have an original beaver, cub or scout uniform from back in the day? It would be lovely to use it during the service.

Pps don’t forget no beavers or cubs on Wednesday 13th

We are going to be 60

It is going to be an exiting year as we are turning 60 years old.

Our first meeting took place on Tuesday 5th March 1959, and back then we were called 78th Bristol Scout Group. Badminton Road Methodist Church has always been our base and it has been welcoming ever since.

Throughout the years we have operated on almost every day of the week, but have for a long time now been steady on Wednesdays.

This celebratory year will bring some special events of which we will inform you all in due time. We are also working on a commemorative badge to mark this occasion.

For now congratulations to all, we are turning 60 on Tuesday 5th March.

We are looking forward to see you all again on Wednesday 9th January 2019.

Chief Scout’s Silver Award

We are very happy that we are awarding 2 of our cubs with the Chief Scout’s Silver Award.

Well done to Jack and Xander for gaining this incredible award, and may it guide you all to a superb adventure in Scouts.

It has been fantastic having you in Cubs, and we are sure you will be enjoying Scouts when you are moving up in January.

New Website Coming Soon

We are currently working on a new website for our group.

It has been a long time coming but now it is almost here. New style, new logo and hopefully a more pleasant layout making things easier to read and find. Lots of code has been written already, pages tested and pages re-written.

If there are things that you are currently missing from our site then feel free to let us know. You can use the form on our Contact Us page.

We can’t tell yet when the new site will be available, but keep visiting us as it will be here soon.

A very big thank you goes out to Downend Round Table for supporting our group. We have been awarded a £300 donation for the good work that was done on the Saturday morning after the big firework display in Downend.

Russell and George have had a great evening last Tuesday and were able to accept the donation on our behalves.

We will be able to put this donation to good use.

Visit the Downend Round Table website to support their good work.
