Sport Relief a success

On Wednesday 16th March the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all took part in the Sport Relief fund raiser.

We managed to do a wide variety of games so hopefully we will have had a successful evening raising loads of money. At this moment in time we do not have a figure yet but we are positive that it is going to be great.

If you have not managed to bring in a sponsor form it is not too late, or if you would like to make a donation then that can be done as well, just bring it along on Wednesday and we will add this to the running total.

Here is an impression of what we have been doing:

Join Us

Adventure is at the heart of everything we do. It is the single most important thing that sets Scouts apart.

Through the everyday adventure of Scouting, young people and adult volunteers regularly experience new challenges that enrich their lives.

From camping and hiking to climbing and cycling, there are hundreds of activities that Scouting offers. At the moment we have spaces available so why not join in and see for yourself.

There are fun and exciting activities and opportunities in each of the three sections:

  • Beavers (ages 6–8)
  • Cubs (ages 8-10½)
  • Scouts (ages 10½–14)

Interested? Use our contact page to let us know.

Cubs 100 Challenge

IMG_0021_Cubs100

The challenge set over half term was for each Cub to put 100 item into their matchbox. The evening before half term they spent some time thinking about what could fit inside, and in the end they all excepted the challenge.

During half term the Cubs have been busy and some of them have managed to fulfil the challenge. Harry, Euan and Tom all got 100 different items inside their matchbox, well done.

Avon Jamboree 2016

There have been some questions regarding the Avon County Jamboree. We will try to answer as many as we can. If you can’t find the information you need just get in touch with us.

One of the questions was ‘What is a Jamboree?
The answer: In Scouting, a jamboree is a large gathering of Scouts who rally at a regional, national or international level. And as the name of this particular jamboree suggests, it is a county event.

So when will the Avon Jamboree take place?
The Avon County Jamboree is taking place from 27th to 30th May 2016 at the Westerleigh Showgrounds.

What activities will there be?
Well, there will plenty of activities on offer, ranging from grass sledging to bungee runs, from Quidditch to archery, and there will even be the opportunity to play African drums. Just go and have a look on the Avon Jamboree website to see what is all on offer.

Who is doing all the cooking?
This will be done by a catering company who are specialised in catering for large groups. If you want to find out more, there is a sample menu available on the Avon Jamboree website.

Where are you going to sleep?
We will be camping in tents in the Kingswood subcamp.

What to do next?
We are now taking bookings for Scouts and Cubs who wish to attend. The total cost of the event for each participant is £60 which covers; Camping, Activities and Catering. A payment option is available via OSM, but we would like to know who likes to attend before sending out payment requests. To ensure a place, a non-returnable deposit of £30 is required by Wednesday 17th February (although there is some grace in this) and the final payment of £30 by the end of March. Just let us know on Wednesday evening who likes to attend or fill out the form below.
