Returning to ‘face-to-face’ meetings

Dear Parents / carers,

As previously agreed, the Group Leaders have reviewed the current guidelines for returning face-to-face activities for scouting as we are keen to get the group back together.

We have to adhere to the Scouts Framework which is aligned to the Government-approved guidance for the youth sector developed by the National Youth Agency. This framework applies in every nation within UK Scouting and addresses: the permissions process, key considerations to be ready for face-to-face meetings, legal and liability conditions, and key control measures.

Taking into account all considerations and key control measures, it was agreed that the Scouting section could safely resume face-to-face but only outdoors and in a small group. However, indoor meetings are far more difficult to accommodate and therefore Cubs and Beavers will be reviewed again before the end of the year to determine if it is practical to start up face-to-face meetings.

The Scout Leaders are now in the process of preparing the necessary risk assessments. Assuming this is all acceptable and agreed, Scouts will return after half term. There will be further communication providing details in due course.

Please be assured we are working hard to return all our young people to face-to-face meetings, but can only do this with their safety and that of our volunteers as paramount.
