Our plans for getting back together at Scouts safely

25th August 2020

As some of the government restrictions around the COVID-19 pandemic begin to be relaxed, we’re starting to plan for how we’ll be able to return to face-to-face Scouts activities at 78th Kingswood Scout Group.

Currently the readiness level in England is set to Amber, meaning that the rate of infection is reducing consistently in all parts of the country. According to Scouts UK, Small group sessions within defined bubbles can take place outdoors, but no residential activities. This means that we have to postpone our planned group camp. More information about cancelled events and refunds will follow soon.

In order to be able to have face-to-face sessions again, there is a lot of activity required to make sure safe systems are in place and risks managed appropriately, as well as ensuring all the right documentation is in place

Due to the amount of work that this needs, and the number of leaders required to safely run each session, we are currently not comfortable that we will be able to meet the guidelines set out by both the government and The Scout Association at this time.

We therefore will not be returning back to Scouting yet but we will review the situation before the start of the next term by the end of October.

We understand that everyone is hoping to get back to a form of normality, but we have to make sure we find ourselves in the best possible situation to facilitate this, and as it stands, we do not feel we are able to do that.

We will keep you all informed of the situation as it develops, and thank you for your continued support.

Regards,

78th Kingswood Scout Group
